quote:Dear Mahattama, Please accept my blessings. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you for your sincere inquiries. I will explain more what I am doing. Many times in the past, when I prayed as hard as I could to Krishna, He indicated that I should come to this place, San Luis Obispo, California (hereafter slo, as it's called here!). Slo lies on the central coast, between LA and San Francisco and is a college town. The region here is exceptionally beautiful, the weather is probably the best in the country and the people are nice and intelligent. We have begun a preaching program and have several regular programs: a Sunday program in a nice room at a park; a Monday evening class on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali which I give at a nice yoga school in town; and a Gita class at my place every Wednesday evening. We will continue to develop the local preaching as Lord Krishna provides opportunities. My main preaching, in my view, is my writing. As you probably know, I am working on a "commercial" novel meant to reach a wide audience. Once that is done I will return to the Mahabharata which I will present as a historical novel, also super "commercial", not in the sense of compromising or diluting but rather in the sense of something lots and lots of people can appreciate. Vrindaban West is the project I want to develop: I want to eventually acquire thousands of acres of land in this area and build a model spiritual community which will include an Epcott-type replica of Vrindaban in its golden age, in terms of visible, historical culture. For me this means Vrindaban around the early to mid 17th century for the following reasons: at that time, there was a favorable Moghul government in North India, and most of the major temples were built, Kusum Sarovara was there etc. So all the most stunning architecture was in place, the period was totally pre-industrial so the flora, fauna and water quality was all excellent and intact, and there was an efficient, developed pilgrimmage infrastructure in place. So I would like to be Krishna's instrument to build a replica of Vrindaban during that golden age. And of course it would also be a sublime devotee community. Those are my goals. I don't plan to travel very much anymore. I am still co-GBC for Atlanta with Bir Krishna Goswami and things are going slowly but surely with steady improvement. That's the news. I welcome you to visit here with Yamuna Pavani and to eventually join us.With my best wishes, Your ever wellwisher, Hridayananda das Goswami
